Attention WZXL Jocks

The name of the band is Aerosmith (Air-Oh-Smith) NOT "Arrowsmith"

Quoting founding member Joey Kramer -

“No, not Arrowsmith,” Kramer explained. “A-E-R-O...Aerosmith.”

Oh yeah, and the word is ROCK, not "RAAAAACK"

Ah - gotta love the battle over regional dialect. My last PD, who was from Ohio, actually called me in to her office to yell at me for sounding 'too Philly...too Mid-Atlantic...'

Mind you, I was working Reading...IN PENNSYLVANIA...IN THE MID-ATLANTIC AREA OF THE COUNTRY...where I grew up and spent 95% of my life...

Funny, me and Hilarie were told the identical thing when WE were in Dallas at KLIF..."Y'all are too Philly & New YAWK-sounding." Perhaps we should have used "y'al" and "fixin' to" a bit more in our dialog.
We had the last laugh. We both got paid to sit home for two years. WITH full pay and a RAISE. Tee-hee.

Great article and video from the PRESS of AC. I just wrote to the author of the article and explained that I did a show on NJ 101.5 where I said I could guess where NATIVE New Jerseyans were from within 25 miles of their birth or hometowns. I was right about 80% of the times. We sure do tawk fawney in this state with NOONE admitting to having a "Jersey Accent" whatever it may be. I broke it down to at least 11 distinct dialects or colloquialisms. Marvelous topic...and I hear the accents on the RADIO here in NJ too. Some VERY VERY local sounding. But that's GOOD in some cases...and bad once you get to the BIGGER stations. My observation.

The problem is, when it comes to living here, in the Mid-Atlantic region, that with so many dialects and accents, if you try and eliminate any accent or dialect from your speech while on the air, you get labeled as 'over rehearsed' or called out on the carpet for not being from around here, most likely leading to a thread on this board, exposing you as a fraud...
