Attn Midwestclubber: Loca FM Spain Is Finally Back :)

They have also acquired (finally) a legal frequency, on 94.3 which covers part of Madrid (a fairly distant rimshot). The illegal 99.1 remains the main frequency for now, but it does mean that if Spain's regulator does crack down on the endemic use of illegal transmitters (even by major media companies), Loca FM's future is reasonably secure.

Other bits of news gleaned from Spanish sources:

Flaix FM (pronounced Flash FM) has lost it's semi-national network, including the Madrid frequencies, to a rock/sport format, "Rock & Gol", and as a result it has gone back to being a local station for the Barcelona area.

MQM Dance, a pirate on 96.1 in Madrid has also dropped the dance format and renamed to simply "MQM Radio".

On the positive side, Evolution FM, another Madrid dance "pirate", now covers the entire city on 87.5.

Flaix FM Is Still A Network :)

At least that's the case according to the website where it shows the frequencies:
http://www.flaixfm.net/pagina.asp?tipus=pagina&ident=2291

So there's still 4 Dance networks in Spain - Maxima, Flaix, Loca, and + Radio.

I also noticed that Evolution FM from Madrid is webcasting via its website. Just go to the "En Directo" section, as I'll have the direct link posted later:

Yes, there is more than one frequency there. But all of them are in Catalunya, the region around Barcelona... and if you look closely at their website you'll notice it's not in Spanish. It's in Catalan, the local language which dominates in Barcelona (the giveaway is the number of words starting with "LL", and the fact that online translators don't work on it).

The Spanish-language edition of Flaix FM, which was available all over Spain (except Barcelona), has gone. The Catalan-language service from Barcelona remains.
