Attorney Jack Thompson on BJ Shea

Did anyone else hear the aborted interview with Jack Thompson on BJ Shea, last Wednesday? BJ seemed to lose control in response to a comment by Thompson to the effect that "Howard should be grateful to him because being forced to move from terrestrial radio has added to his success." Thompson apparently felt mistreated and declined to continue the interview by hanging up the telephone on BJ...twice.

Today(Thursday) Howard included content from Thompson's appearance on Danny Deutsch, in a segment that demonstrated the public's largely negative response to CBS' suit against the King of all Media. Howard himself acknowledged that Thompson is no friend/fan of his, but that even Thompson could see the fallacy of CBS' position.

So tell me readers...did BJ over react...was he doing schtick that he thought would translate to compelling radio...is he feeling the pressure in a world where Howard Stern's successors are taking a collective beating...or do you have other feelings?
Edited by drdetroit02 on 03/02/06 08:34 PM.

Well we'll get a good idea tomorrow if BJ will be feeling the pressure. Granted the trend will only reflect one month of his show being on the air, but it will tell KISW how the listeners are reacting to all the post Stern changes. And unlike all the other stations that had Stern and put on someone without a track record, BJ's show has been around for a while so surely his numbers can't be as bad as the likes of Roth in NY and Carolla in LA.

BJ's show may have been around for awhile, but I think he'll suffer mightily from not being able to ride Leykis' coattails anymore. I didn't hear the interview but I did tune in right afterward (first time in weeks) and it sounded like BJ went off on one of his lame tirades with very little provocation. Does he really think this is good radio? My guess is that tomorrow's trend will show that it really doesn't matter because nobody's listening anyway.

There had been such a long and welcome respite from any BJ posts that I had hoped he was already off the air.

This guy?

I caught the tail end of Monday's show. I guess BJ went to Peru last month and did psychoactive drugs - including one that made him feel like a woman (or something like that.)

Even I haven't done that one yet...

I heard the "interview" in question and BJ gave Jack EVERY CHANCE to answer a question about his own bio sent by the media relations booker to KISW after Jack when into this tirade about how "Howard should be grateful to him because being forced to move from terrestrial radio has added to his success."...All Jack wanted to do was hear himself talk and "put himself over as a friend of Howard Stern"...

BJ just tried to get Jack to talk about his past and Jack wanted to talk about something else...namely putting himself over...I think they should have done the interview with the instrumental bed of "Me So Horny" playing in the back ground...BJ had proper cause to rip this guy a new one...

Jack Thompson OVER-REACTED and hung up twice on BJ and crew...BJ even offered to put him back on the air a third time and let Steve or Double R conduct the interview...Jack wouldn't come back on the air and clearly stated "I don't need the publicity"...

Jack Thompson is a hypocrite and has been public enemy number one when it comes to protection of the first amendment for the last 15-20 years...If I ever saw this guy in public, I'd kick his ass for my own personal enjoyment, singing Two Live Crew's "The F*ck Shop" to him while I did it..."Jack!!! OooOOoO JACK!!!! This is for Luther Campbell, B*TCH!!"

Well said, well said.

OK, apparently BJ's show had a great first trend. I guess that's why I'm in sales instead of programming.
