Audacity software question

I've always used Nero for audio editing, and find it easy to cancel "common mode" audio if needed, to cancel a vocal
if it's more or less equal in both channels. The stereo mix faders run plus and minus, so it's easy.

A friend has Audacity and I couldn't find an equivalent function where L and R can be summed in a plus/minus mode.
I only had 10 minutes to look at his computer.....is there something in Audacity which can variably +/- sum L-R into a (mono) mix?

I would think you can invert one channel and sum, but no idea if there's an automated function. If not, you can always download a VST that will do this.
