Audacy app for Roku discontinued

Went to Audacy on my Roku a few minutes ago and got the message saying something to the effect of, "Hi! The Audacy app for Roku is going away soon, but you can still enjoy this station. Search for it on TuneIn."

i wouldn't be surprised if the Audacy app/site is going bye-bye and Audacy reverts back to the Entercom name all while the stations stream directly from their websites or a 3rd party app. i wonder if Audacy/Entercom would make their stations TuneIn exclusive or cut a deal with their biggest rival iHeartMedia to stream Audacy stations in the iHeart app/site.

While I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised if the Audacy app and site were to go away, I would be surprised to see the Entercom name return. The original old guard who created that name is out, and the new management has no connection to the name that had already been seen as outdated. If there is a name change, it will be to something completely different (or to another operator who merges with the group).

BTW - I just tuned in to an Audacy station on the iOS app and did not get a message that the station was moving.

So far, looks like it’s just Roku (and maybe a few other less used platforms).

Something else I noticed yesterday evening is that the partnership between Audacy and Townsquare would seem to be winding down with Audacy pulling itself off of Roku and potentially some other less used platforms. Townsquare stations would seem to no longer have the Siri integration they had a month or so ago through Audacy.

The Townsquare stations are still available on Roku via TuneIn.

Outside iHeart and Sirius nobody really has radio streaming because it's a 'whole screen' experience and Roku absolutely is terrible at just letting audio play while other secondary video plays. Apple TV will let you stream near anything with Siri, so Audacy never bothered with that platform, nor Google TV. It's not a business issue, just a 'nobody uses it why bother to support it' issue.

boy, did i see that "Cut a deal with IHeartMedia to stream on the iHeart site/app coming the moment this thread pointed out the end of the Roku Audacy app.

Chalk that one up! I may not agree with you very often, but, when you’re right, you’re right.

The Audacy Roku announcement has changed slightly. It is saying the Audacy app for Roku will cease to exist on July 14 and is telling listeners they can find their stations on TuneIn and iHeart.
