Audacy-Cumulus rumors heating up?

To add to what I noticed recently in another post: Besides all the new additions I’m hearing even more songs on The Spot that are different versions/edits/mixes from what they’ve normally played. Even hearing different end points on certain songs where the automation moves to the next item on the playlist.
I've noticed that too with the mixes and are sometimes cool to hear. But I recently heard them end Purple Rain early to jump right into Smash Mouth's All Star...
From recent listening to The Spot the term “train wreck” is starting to cross my mind. Some of the musical transitions and juxtapositions are now rather jarring…and not in a fun way as with Jack in DFW.
I've found myself listening to The Eagle a lot more than The Spot lately

Maybe take a look at what Bob-FM KBPA is doing in Austin?
I had wanted to mention KBPA earlier in the Holiday ratings thread when The Spot came up, but I think they're a good blueprint in terms of leaning younger while still appealing to '80s fans in the upper end of the 35-54 target. Definitely not a fan of the reduction in '80s spins that result in hours in which only 4 out of 10 songs an hour are '80s, or 5 out of 11 or 12. In particular, really don't like how little new wave is played on the station now.
I'm saddened to hear how badly Audacy has ruined The Spot. Traditionally, the company has programmed its Variety Hits stations well.
For most of their existence, they were programmed as more of an Adult Hits/Classic Hits hybrid and had a different playlist than the other Audacy Adult Hits stations. It wasn't until mid to late July last year (coinciding with the start of the August book) that they started slowly shifting towards traditional Adult Hits programming, with them moving even further in that direction towards the end of Janaury this year (impacts won't show until the February book), it's just not being executed properly for whatever reason, causing a ratings slump.
