Yes. But I hear the deal has a bunch of contingencies that can return it to iHeart. While we're on the subject, last time I checked the Dodgers are part owners of KLAC with iHeart.
And remember that the Imus Lesson showed us that sport talk is not all about sports.., it is guy talk, bar talk without beer.Bottom line is if you're going to get into the sports radio business in LA, you better be thinking about hiring a full staff of local sports talk show talent. Because you have a lot of time to fill.

What do you mean by "now soon?" It's one or the other. They won't be doing anything NOW.
They already flipped 97.1, so that's done. They've been evolving KROQ, and that's a work in progress.
History. With 97.1 they're clearly trying to find something that reaches younger demos. They haven't hit on the right formula, but clearly that's the goal for this station. They already have four top rated stations that appeal to 25-54. They need something that competes with KIIS.
For KROQ, the company just hired several new programmers to oversee alternative stations. They're not going to spend money to hire people, and then blow the station up.
That post aged real well! I asked how you could be so confident-
Very valid point. Add in the fact that several of the possible play by play teams already have financial interests in stations and others have long, long term deals with other stations and the option of having sports without proprietary play by play does not look good. Just expensive. And to do that in LA, you will need to invest money in talent. Which is why Audacy isn't jumping into it.
In fact, KNOU, under its prior calls but the same format, outbilled KTWV both in 2020 and 2019.Whatever revue they had with KNUE is now gone.
That isn't what they're trying to do at all. They are strategically flipping underperforming stations.I think Audacy is trying to kill off the Top 40 CHRs that were owned by the then CBS Radio prior to CBS/ Entercom (at that time) merger. My prediction is that the next Top 40 CHRs that Audacy will flip and Live 101.5 Phoenix and Power 96 Miami.
I have been hearing that Live 101.5 Phoenix was going to flip for the last 8 years and yet, it’s still here! I have just accepted that Live 101.5 is not going anywhere anytime soon. Plus, Audacy doesn’t own anything else on the AM side to put on 101.5 FM like an all-news station. There are very few format holes in Phoenix to fill.I think Audacy is trying to kill off the Top 40 CHRs that were owned by the then CBS Radio prior to CBS/ Entercom (at that time) merger.
