Western Kentucky AUDIO: 106.3 WOVO's "Wheel Of Formats" Stunting

Here is a composite of WOVO's "wheel of formats" stunt that began the day after Christmas 2024. I left in novelty formats like polka and TV theme songs but some other stuff was edited out.

Beaver 106.3 (mentioned)
Bigfoot Country Legends 96.7 (mentioned when said "classic country is coming to bowling green")

Such a waste of frequencies and Big Foot Country is not a very good classic country station. My previous presets included 94.5/1340 (Oldies), 95.9/106.3-HD2 (R&B), 96.7 (Country) and 106.3. (Hot AC). After the change, COUNTRY, COUNTRY AND MORE DUPLICATES of the same COUNTRY stations. Why the simulcasts? That may make sense in PA, but these signals ALL cover the same primary area. We already had more than enough choices for country. And the changes with Commonwealth were nearly as bad... we have Country 103.7 and WCLU (AC) now at 103.1/1490 AND 104.7/1230 - again, why such the need for so many simulcasts? We at least have something listenable with JackFM, but it's duplicated at 102.3, 95.7, 98.5 and 103.7-HD2.

What makes bigfoot not a good classic country station?
7 mtns seems to be a shrewd company that keeps growing, so theyre doing something right

There most likely isn't enough in the market revenue to allow each station to run an "unique" format. If those licenses were turned back in, someone might pick theme up (at least the translators) and no one would make any money. I am surprised they don't use a "satellite" service on the overlapping signals and sell them together.

Of course it's just my opinion, but broadly speaking it's mostly the music on the station that misses the mark. Willie 94.1 has recently switched from satellite Real Country to a more localized version than it had been and has a much better classic country mix. The tempo is mostly down on "Big Foot" 96.7/95.9 when I've listened and the processing on the station is flat. Maybe it will improve given time. Also, the jingles are awful. The imaging is respectable, and Big D & Bubba are enjoyable (left behind when the Beaver moved from 96.7 to 106.3).

7 Mountains has done a good job with updating some of its stations especially WUHU 107.1. The music has improved immensely on WUHU along with the imaging. The Beaver overall sounds good, but is likely going to be hurt by its move up the dial as many listeners may stick around for the classic country on 96.7. This will likely benefit Country 95.1 WGGC and possibly 103.7 WHHT, which sounds really good musically with "Country's Hottest Hits" and overall with imaging/jingles these days. 105.3 The Point has segued from "the Classic Rock station" to "the Rock station" without much change in the playlist aside from adding a bit of 90s grunge. The Point sounds good and mostly sticks to playing the hits while across town Classic Rock WDNS 93.3 is also quite good with a very deep playlist.
