audio compass

Can anyone relate experiences from using this software for audio over IP? Thanks

I have been using Audio Compass for several weeks to broadcast high school football games and have had good results. Computer at studio is a Dell that is about 5 years old and is connected to a DSL line. The computer at the remote location is a laptop that is about 5 years old. I did wipe the hard drive on both computers and reinstalled windows XP so I have nothing but Audio Compass running on them. This may not have been necessary. I am using the little wireless hotspot device from Sprint for internet access at the remote end. I do sometimes have a dropout that last a few seconds , but overall it is better than 99% reliable and sounds so much better than a phone line or cellphone. If you have a lot of dropouts you can adjust the buffer size on the studio end and most times that corrects the problem.
Go to the audio compass website and you can download a 30 day demo version.

One other thing that drove me nuts in getting Audio Compass to work. Don't forget to select which port you will be using and open up these ports in your studio router and firewall.

ehh...had bad luck with getting barix 100 units to work consistently for long broadcasts. Works fine for short remotes.

have not tried audiocompass, have been using skype for ball game broadcasts this year with great results.

IP software is trial and error as you well know.Demo audio compass and skype.I still like POTS,hard to beat copper..Anyway you can get a wireless link to your local stadium(intranet)? Most anything would work and you wouldn't be a prisoner of the internet. But if you're dependent on your local inernet provider, you might consider the Comrex and Tieline units or even the new Barix 500,they're only a grand for a pair..LOts of choices and budget consideration.Good luck, you'll figure it out.
