Thank you. Now, is it "Bal-a" or "Bay-la"?I'd be pronouncing the 2nd word "sin-wid" as a Yank.

Actually, it's not on the Main Line. The beginning of the Main Line (aka Paoli Line) is Overbrook. First stop outside the city is Merion.
Bala and Cynwyd are on the Cynwyd Line (the truncated Pennsylvania Norristown Line).
Pab Sungenis said:BAH-lah KIN-wood. I believe the proper Welsh pronunciation (I never studied the language other than how to pronounce the different letters ages ago) of the last word would be closer to "Kun-OO-uhd" but we Murrikans don't cotton to forrin' word pronouncin'.
MattParker said:Maybe y'all should find out what "flagship" means. If a station does not produce and originate a show, it's not a flagship. Rush used to do his show at WABC. Then it was his flagship; now he doesn't really have one since it's an independent production from his own facility. If Levin works from from Virginia, then WABC isn't his "flagship" either (maybe it was once). WJNO is not Rush's "flagship" either - he's not there. They take him off the bird like everybody else. And WPHT was not Beck's "flagship."
And this thread has one of the more inaccurate, misleading and deliberately incendiary headlines I've seen in a while.

I mean the hundreds of thousands who work, live and play in the suburbs and avoid going into center city. I mean the hundreds of thousands who have to go into center city (and pay wage tax) and hate it. I mean the hundreds of thousands who are glad they moved out of the city at the first opportunity who are glad to be able to step outside their doors without looking over their shoulders and are glad to have public schools which actually provide a safe environment and a decent education.
If it weren't for the airport and the sports complex, there are hundreds of thousands of people who would happily not set foot in Filthadelphia.
That misinformation must have come from KYW, WPVI, WCAU or WTXF news.Dan said:MattParker said:Dan said:You mean the tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of people in the suburban counties who work and play in the city every day? Yeah.

lol. So grossly misinformed. That's fine. Stay out of the city, more of us can enjoy the amenities![]()

I lived in Dover, DE from 2003 till last year and watched news from Philly. That's after being born & raised (till 1981) in the Delaware Valley. Suffice to say I'm glad I'm back in SoCal.8)
BTW:I hear Philly is a real gas. :-* BOOM!
P.S.: It's Killadelphia

I'm pretty sure the Rush and Levin have people on the staff working at WABC producing the show. WABC is still the flagship station for those shows. It's not a legal term, just bragging rights for the station.

Don't they both ISDN to WABC? I'm pretty sure Mark is in his basement by himself (maybe a dog is there too) and the rest of the show is out of WABC. For Rush, do the calls come into WABC and is the show still sent up to the satellite out of WABC as well? Considering he used to do the show both out of Southern FLA and NYC, wouldn't the show have to still come out of WABC unless when he got pissed off at NYC taxes, he pulled the entire show out of NYC and produces it out of the Southern Command location in Southern FLA so the rest of the staff would get the tax breaks in FLA as well.
MattParker said:In March, 2009, the New York Daily News reported Rush was selling his $10-million 5th Ave condo because he objected to New York taxes. Rush told the paper he had done 15 shows from New York the year before - mostly to avoid hurricanes in Florida. He said he was looking for a new back-up studio in Texas.
If WABC doesn't feed the show and has no role in producing the show, it's not a flagship - even if he visits occasionally. He does the show from other places from time to time, usually when he travels for speaking engagements. He may use studio facilities of stations which carry his show but they aren't flagships either (OK, maybe for the day).
If Levin feeds his show by remote link to WABC and members of the production staff are at WABC, then it is his flagship. If the link goes to WMAL and that's where the production staff is then WMAL is the flagship. Levin once had a local show on WABC and they carry his syndicated show; Rush once had a local show on KFBK, Sacramento and they still carry him - but that doesn't qualify either as flagships.
