Audio issues now on WRCN

103.9 sounds like a low bitrate MP3 now, it is completely unlistenable. WJVC 96.1 has sounded like garbage (audio wise) since the sign on. I don't know if JVC's engineers have wax stuck in their ears but audio like that is completely unacceptable and unlistenable.
It sounds like they may be using ISDN or some cheap web streaming STL. WRCN sounded great last week, but with the audio like this forget about it. There's no high end at all, it's like a "fake" high end. Party and Fiesta sound fine. So what's the problem with 96.1 and 103.9?

Most likely WRCN has moved from their Medford studio to the JVC Ronkonkoma studios... I helped build the Medford facility in 1997 and they used composite STL with an 8100 (later an 8400). My guess is the new link is probably a Barix box from the Ronkonkoma studios

Well if they are using a Barix with this sound I'm done listening to 'RCN. Can't believe what is considered acceptable audio quality these days...
