Audio news feed of Inauguration

Are there any free (or nominal charge) live continuous feeds of a big news event namely the Inauguration of President Obama available to small, non-profit part-15/internet/cable stations? I have a friend of a friend who is involved with one such station and wanted me to ask on here. He doesn't bother with these chat boards and knows I'm on here all the time. Any leads?

We are an affiliate of the IRN/USA radio network. Although I'm not sure they will be carrying the inauguration, it doesn't hurt to check with them to see if they are and whether you're freind can run their network. Even if they make audio available, I don't plan on carrying the event. Visit http://www.inforadionet.com/ and click on contact.

Good luck.

Hey thanks for the lead. Wow, your part-15 carries IRN/USA? I know IRN/USA is not ABC, but I hear it on decent sized commercial stations in smaller markets. There's a 250 watt AM daytimer about 40 miles from me that runs them. How much does that cost you? My friend my be interested.

Actually, IRN/USA has over 1,000 affiliates. I signed on with IRN before they merged with USA and made a deal through their affiliate relations rep Ron Allen. You might now have to go through USA...I don't know for sure. No offense, but I would rather not discuss the cost of carrying their network. Why not try contacting them and see what they tell you. They might make your friend a sweet deal.

Please let me know what happens.

USA barters for you to carry their programming... (in other words it's free) You need to agree to play "xxx # of hours" of programming from them per week and provide a proof of performance, but that's really it.

If anyone pays for USA/IRN, they're being ripped off... :)

I also use IRN/USA News, including some airtime over my Internet station.

A contact would be Robert Jimenez. You can find more info at http://www.usaradio.com.

My station uses the service via the barter system. (Play the newscasts with the commencials intact.)

I don't pay for IRN either. However, since I don't deal with USA, I wasn't sure what their agreement was with other Part 15's. (I carry some newscasts and the show "News And Views" and deal directly with Larry Bates).

So, there you go Interstate, your friend should be able to grab the network for no money down.
