Audio Problems

Right now, I have both the streams for Kool 101 and WNLC up and not only do they sound like they're underwater, but more like someone's holding them underwater. The music has a tinny sound to it. But most importantly, you can barely hear the hosts speaking over the mics. On WNLC, Chris Dillon conducted his daily trivia question, but all I could hear are the sound effects and the "Jeopardy!" music.

Is this being heard over the air, or only on the stations' streams?

No answer at the "Kool phone," by the way.

Update: I decided to play a radio.com stream and I hear similar quality. So it appears the problems are on my end. Sorry, carry on, people, nothing to read here...

DJ....

There was a problem of some sort early this morning....We didn't have internet in part of the building when I came in...Maybe that had something to do with it. Should be OK now...

Jim

And that's partly what led to me posting this message in the first place - the streams were offline until about 7:30 AM... then, once they were back online, I heard what I heard... then after trying another stream from a different source, I realized my headphone jack was not in all the way... oops!

I guess it's sage to bump this thread...

Neither the Kool nor the WNLC streams have been working over the last couple of days. And they're still down as I type this.

Funny! Kinda like the real reason WXCT dropped English-language programming... ::)

Anyhow, someone over there at Hall Comm. must have read this board - someone occasionally does, it seems - and figured out the problem, because the stream was back to life in the 11 AM hour. Thanks! ;)

Hi DJ--

I share your frustration in that I'm on the road (Burlington VT) and couldn't monitor the station while away. Being curious as to what caused the problem, I called the CE when he finished restoring service. When asked for the cause, he said "a combination of factors"...and asked if I wanted to hear about it. Being that he worked real hard on the issue, I expressed interest, not realizing I was'nt into the "free nights & weekends" window of my cell phone agreement. (I remember hearing a lot of stuff about changing out hardware, a visit from an AT&T tech, another router and configuration of some sort.)

In short, he was right: "A combination of factors".

Thanks !

Jim

Glad I could be of some assistance, not just to KOOL, but the entire Hall FM cluster which appeared to be affected by this suspicious "combination of factors" you speak of - even if I or you, in this case, are miles away.

Answering Jim Reed's "bat signal"...

The Kool 101 stream is A-OK this A.M.! ;) (As is the WNLC stream.)

Have a good day, and thanks for the shout-out!

... okay, now, the streams went down... right at the end of "I Second That Emotion," it went silent...

Check that, they resumed a minute after this post...

... and they're off once again... for the last ten minutes or so...
