AUDIO: The Last Days of WFAS-FM 6/27/14 - 7/3/14

For those of you have not been listened to WFAS-FM during the last week or so, I will like to share some audio from the final days of WFAS-FM as an AC station. Will begin with the last few shows featuring Hartman and the last two shows with Jolana Smith and the last show with Ron James. I recorded all this stuff courtesy of iHeartRadio. I'm going throw a bunch of them in, because in honor of WFAS-FM which has left the airwaves last night with the launch of WNBM's "Roadio 103.9" which starts today at around 1 PM, and I will be recording it ASAP.

Here is Hartman with his 6th to last show on WFAS-FM from 6/24/14.

Here's Jolana Smith from the next morning 6/25/14.

And again with his 3rd to last show, and this was his final Friday show for the station.

Here's Ron James' where he did his last show on WFAS-FM since he was on that station for 25 years when he first came to the airwaves back in 1989.

This is the 2nd to last show with the Hartman and he was doing his last Saturday shift where he plays all of your party favorites, note that the music was choppy due to streaming issues, but it works good toward the end, and close out the final Saturday show with my favorite graduation song by Vitamic C. As you know, I graduated at Anderson School since 2000 where they played that song during the ceremony, but it's good to hear it on WFAS-FM once again.

Here is Jolana Smith once again with her final morning show on WFAS-FM from 6/30/14. She didn't had a chance to say goodbye toward the 10 PM hour since it went automated for while before John Tesh kicked in.

And finally, here is the Hartman where he did his final show on WFAS-FM from 6/30/14. He played many of the songs along with a mix of current hits and the rest. And then, towards the 5 PM hour, the station will play many of the songs that has goodbye references in there, but toward the final hour, you're hear two of the songs that you all familiar with if you are a fan of classic TV shows, the first one in the last hour was the theme to "WKRP in Cincinnati" and the theme song to "Cheers". Two great TV theme songs in a row which was added feature to the last hour of the last show if you are a fan of classic TV shows from the past. And in addition, Hartman will give us his final words on his last shows where he thank all the listeners who tuned in during the afternoon for the last 4 years and played the last song "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Gloria Gaynor, and that puts the end of the station after all these years. The station went jockless after 7 PM. Hartman has been on WFAS-FM since 2010, and he was the last afternoon to leave the station, just like Bill Brown left CBS-FM since 2005 after the record intro to the song "Rescue Me" by Fontella Bass before the flip to "Jack". Enjoy this monumental final show on WFAS-FM. The show runs about 4 hours in length.

And as a bonus, he is the final hour of WFAS-FM from last night. This was recorded off of iHeartRadio and during the final half hour of the station, they play a couple of final songs that has a meaning of goodbye and other stuff that leads into the final song called "Graduation" by Vitamic C at around midnight. After that, it goes right into the TOH station ID and played it twice and played the first song after sign-off was "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga. Here it is.

During the final night of the station, the station sign-off at 12:02 AM when the station goes dark, but thankfully WFAS-FM remains on the air and it continued to stream via iHeartRadio before the station launches this afternoon at 1:02 PM to become an urban AC station known as "Radio 103.9", the WFAS-FM stream continues for now and runs automated music without the DJ's. Enjoy these airchecks from the final days of WFAS-FM.
