Audio Tube Amp Questions

Howdy All!

I am hoping for some input regarding the purchase or acquisition of an audio tube amp for my new home entertainment center. Many years ago, I owned a pair of Macintosh Tube Amps which I used for my Home Stereo. I had it until Mr. Burglar took ‘em.

I have never recaptured the great sound of that system, and I have spent an obscene amount of money trying. (At least my wife thinks it obscene.)

Does anyone make a good tube amp anymore? Is it worth trying to build one?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

You can find lots of tube amps around. Ebay has both McIntoshes and Dynacos for sale-including refurbished ones. You can buy replacement PC boards for most Dyna tube products.

For example, check this bad boy out:

Or this little guy for under 150 bucks:

Of course if you're feeling nostalgic, you're going to have to pay:

Just do a search for "tube amplfiers" on ebay.... or Dynaco or McIntosh, etc.

Good luck!
