Audio: WCOJ, West Chester, PA - 1980's

18 seconds in you can hear the crackle of lightning, must of been some thunderstorms in the area...I loved it years back listening to AM top 40 stations in the 60's, with the crackle of T-Storms, which warned you they were a coming....before weather surface radar was ever in existence, you had the AM crackle...to warn you...

You got it right with the sound of the storm coming. I remember listening to WFIL on my little transistor radio when I was a kid and knew a storm was coming by the crackle of static.
Thanks for the WCOJ clip. It was my pleasure to work there for a while a couple years ago.

Most of this clip is an aircheck of a remote from Mac's Golf Center in June 1986. It is bookended by a brief aircheck from 1981, and a legal ID from late 1989. Enjoy!

Don't you mean Coatesville or Coatesville-West Chester? AFAIK, WCOJ has never been licensed to West Chester, and since I am hundreds of miles out of listening range, I have no idea how it IDs or IDed.

'WCOJ Coatesville, West Chester' at least that's how they wanted it done when I was there. 2007-2008
with studios in uptown West Chester.
