Audio: WNBC-AM "Time Machine" 10.8.87 (And A Question)

Here are two airchecks of "66 WNBC," exactly one year before they ended broadcasting and morphed into WFAN. Dale Parsons is the DJ - listen as he battles with dead air halfway through. Here's Part 1:

And Part 2 (notice there is a live read toward the end of this clip for a dentist- just sayin' ;D ) :

Now, for my question: At the beginning of Part 2, the announcer says coverage of the Jets-Cowboys game is on WNBC. How long did they have radio rights to the Jets? And did WFAN get it by default a year later?

I don't think the Jets renewed with WNBC in 1988. At the time of this aircheck, there was no plan "in action" to sell WNBC. Emmis didn't send a letter of intent until Feb 1988... 4 months after this aircheck.

WFAN didn't have any football rights when they signed on. The Giants were on WNEW 1130 and I think the Jets went to WOR in 1988....
