Audioarts/Arrakis consoles

Pig tails terminated in spade lugs and barrier strips my preference. Mounted on a board under the console, with each input channel marked with a Sharpie. (All the wires are numbered, but makes finding things easier.) Usually find someplace to put a little florescent light (the under the counter types sold for $10) to make seeing things easier.

Have had a number of last minute requests (can we add the state net to this console for after tonight's game?--request at 5:30 that evening) that this system makes my life easier.

The again, I own the place so I set the budget.

I used to like screw terminals however, after several of the "last minute requests" I have gotten to where I like punch blocks. Drag the audio feed into it and punch it down. You don't have to find spade lugs, or a crimper, I have four punch tools just in case I misplace one. The pig tails that Audioarts supplies come with Krone punchs.
 
Just remember kiddies, NAB is right around the corner. One never knows what might be coming out.................
 
I just purchased an Arrakis ARC-8 for my Part 15 AM station. I have not used it on the air yet but having worked with it in the studio with the automation software audio and a mic running through it I can say that I am happy with the results. I'll be purchasing a Hybrid later this year and will see how it handles the phone line.

Units like this are perfect for Part 15 broadcasters and probably even LPFM or college CC operations. One of my engineering buddies told me Arrakis units have a tendency to pick up extraneous noise from outside sources such as high powered transmitters. Thus, it is probably safe to assume a low power radio station can safely use a board such as this.
