Has anyone else ever had a problem with Adobe Audition where you save a project, then when you come back to it you have stuttering pops in a particular audio track? Could this be a problem with the sample rate?
 
That's not a problem I've experienced, but you might try "save session as",
and then "save copies of each file". When you do this, you'll be given
the option of what format and sample rate you want to make each copy.
That way, all the files in the session will be the same format and
sample rate. Hope this works

You're not saving to mp3, are you? If you are, don't. Always save embedded files as pcm wav files. Best if 32-bit. If you need to deliver in another format, wait until after you mixdown the project.
