"Thank you. Thank you very much."

Glad you like it.

Please help me spread the "hint" that if you're going to buy something from Amazon, to go through my links!

Everyone... Feel free to forward my posting about it to all the radio geeks (and fans and professionals and DXers) you know.

I sure did ! I checked it out as soon as you announced it on here earlier this (Saturday) afternoon. I ended up spending nearly an hour on there. I went back and checked it out some more tonight (Saturday night). I must say that this edition was very well done, and more interesting than last month's edition. You included some of the topics that we've been discussing on here. It kept my attention going.

Have you thought about posting a complete AM & FM directory of South Florida's radio stations somewhere on your web site with frequencies, call letters, formats, wattage powers, cities of license, locations of transmitters, and other relevant information ? I think that would be cool to see on your web site. I would refer to it all of the time !

I may be making a purchase soon at Amazon, so I'll do just that !

Now you've got me. I'm trying to think of what. (Unless it's something I posted here because I didn't want to wait. I'm impatient like that sometimes.)

I looked.... of course.... Adam Bomb and Opie & Anthony. Thanks to whoever brought them up.

My initial idea, in '95, was to do something different. This started as a one-page list of radio station web sites. I think WMXJ "She'll have fun-fun-fun till her daddy takes the keyboard away" was the first. (Do they even play that song any more, much less the jingle?)

That info, although usually wrong, is available so many places on the web. Even real estate companies have their station lists. Of course, R-L is the bet source, because it's easier to navigate than the FCC site.

Anyway, I tried to create something that didn't duplicate so many other sites, not a station list.

Everyone.... what do you think? Would you really use it?

BTW, I did add Google maps of a few station transmitter sites last year, but for some reason the pages made MSIE hang. Typical MS garbageware. If you use something other than IE and would like to see them, let me know and I'll repost them.

Thank you. Of course, I don't get names, so if you buy something, please tell me so I can thank you. (Unless, of course, it's something embarrassing and you don't want to tell.)

This means everyone, not just el comandante. Thank you all!

YES - I use Radio-Locator extensively to look-up radio stations. Does anyone know of a similar (free) web site resource for television stations ?

Most of the stuff that I buy from Amazon is in the hit music category (such as reference books and CDs). I also buy a lot of stuff from Musicspace (more often so than Amazon). They also have an affiliate program where you (as a webmaster) earn a nice commission (7 to 12%) on each sale that is generated through a banner on your web site. You would make some measureable money on me alone if you became an affiliate of them !

I suggest doing a web search for the call of a really obscure TV station (like a translator) and this site, if such exists, would be easy to find in the results.

I've just added that to August Radio News, just below the Miami Sound item, along with some other minor changes and additions. I'll be uploading the updated file tonite.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The monthly South Florida Radio News has now become must reading for me. A labor of love, thanks 954. And one of the many reasons the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale board is by far the MOST interesting local board - and I read almost of them at some time or another.

Another reason this board is #1 in my book results from the cast of characters who regularly contribute and keep the topics interesting. In fact, many of you seem so real and genuine that it comes through the words on a puter screen. I don't get down state as often as I would like anymore, but sometimes I think what a hoot it would be to have some kind of radio meet some day. Or vice-versa, for anyone who comes to Jax (like The-Major when he visits his parents) it would be something to think about.

I've often thought about suggesting that on my local board but I haven't exaclty made many friends for telling it like it is. My motivation has always been love of radio and if telling it like it is doesn't win lots of friends, oh well, perhaps a topic for another day...later.....

Great job as always David (I'm now back to having no life, at least for a while)

Thanks, guys! Glad you enjoyed it

And Kevin, I noticed you linked from your blog. Thanks.

After moving to a new domain, gotta build up those links again.

Hey John From Jax,

On behalf of all of my radio lovin' friends on here I thank thee for your nice comments about us and this board, but you are also thanking yourself because you have made a lot of wonderful contributions to this board as well. Some of your posts have resulted in 3 or 5 or 10 or 20 subsequent replies that have kept the various discussions going in all types of different directions. This board is a 'Theatre Of The Mind' !

We do have a great group of people on here, and that's why I like to hang out here every day - and into the night. I'm a lurker on other local boards here at Radio-Info such as Tampa, Orlando, and your own local board North Florida, but as you can see this is where I contribute the most of my material and opinions. This is home for me, and this is where the best people hang out.

Once upon a time (about 13 years ago) I used to own and run an old-fashioned dial-up BBS in Melbourne Florida (where I lived at the time). For those of you who weren't computer literate back during the early-1990s or are simply too young to know - The dial-up BBS (bulletin board system) is how we used to communicate with each other at 2400 baud before the web took off a few years later. I used to run a BBS where my friends would dial-up my computer, download all of the new messages, disconnect, post replies to the new messages offline using a variety of utilities at the time such as 'SLMR' ('Silly Little Mail Reader'), reconnect, and then upload their replies into the system. We used to discuss everything under the sun - Politics, Sports, The Weather, Television, Music, and YES - even Radio. We had a great cast of characters back then - not unlike the great cast of characters that are on this board today. A few times a year I would organize a 'hang scene' somewhere in Melbourne such as at a Bennigan's or a T-G-I-Friday's where we would all meet at a specific date and time and pretty much just hang out. Believe it or not when we all met we did very little discussing about what we were talking about on the board. We felt that we should keep those discussions in an electronic form and just hang out and eat, drink, and be merry. We basically talked about our various lives and what we were doing away from the board. It was a fun time for all. Once we got back to our respective homes though and then back onto the board it was back to business as usual.
