August 2014 FM Bandscan (near Queets, WA)

Sorry for the late post on this, but I thought you guys might be interested in an update. Unfortunately, I am going only by memory on my list, but I did have the chance to mess around with the radio quite a bit. Here are the stations that I picked up:

KWAO 88.1 (fair)
KSLY 93.7 (fair)
KXXK 95.3 (poor)
CHKG 96.1 (poor)
[note that there was nothing but static on 96.7 from Forks,WA)
KYYO 96.9 (fair)
KOMO 97.7 (fair)
----- 98.5 (from the Oregon coast, fair signal)
KDDS 99.3 (fair)
----- 100.7 (Boss-FM from the Oregon coast, fair signal)
KSWW 102.1 (fair)
KYNW 102.9 (good)
CHQM 103.5 (poor)
KDUX 104.7 (fair/good)
KJET 105.7 (poor)
KANY 107.3 (poor)

This is what I recall hearing when I was in the area. Here are a few other notes:

-I could hear KDUX until I got into the Forks, WA vicinity. Definitely a powerful signal.

-"Twilight FM" from Forks sounds very weak. I expected to hear a little bit of life on 96.7 once I got to Queets (which is near the coastline), but there was nothing but noise.
-KYNW sounded nice out there and had plenty of life in it between Grays Harbour and Queets.

-Seattle FM's actually sounded pretty good in certain spots on US 101 (a bit surprising).

-I didn't hear much from the Portland signals other than the occasional break-in. KINK and KKCW were definitely the strongest of the lot.

-Mount Seymour signals made an occasional break-in every so often on the Highway 101 drive, but nothing interesting.

-KZOK 102.5 was pretty much gone by the time I got to McCleary. The other Seattle stations seemed to be fairing much better than KZOK, and lasted almost into Aberdeen (KIRO 97.3 being the best).

There is no 98.5 in Oregon other than one in Keno, OR (near Klamath Falls). Did you mean 96.5? KCYS Seaside is on that channel. I could get them at Pacific Beach/Moclips when they were on 98.1 a few years ago.

Thanks for that! Yes, I was referring to 96.5 (which would explain why I could not find it online). 98.5 was a faint CIOC.

Surprised you couldn't get 96.7 KCRF Lincoln City either instead of KBDB. I heard KCRF like a local at Pacific Beach, on the beach it came in even stronger.

I don't recall picking up KCRF, but then again, I was not keeping a very good record. I think KBDB was producing just enough signal to make a few faint noises on my radio, but that is about it. I'm curious to see what KBDB will sound like after they upgrade, because their signal is mediocre outside of Forks right now.

Have you had the chance to get out there and experiment with KBDB at all? I should have left it on my car radio during my trip; I think I checked in with it near the Hoh or Bogachiel river and the signal was pretty rough.
