August 2019 Ratings

WCSX stays on top, despite a drop in PPM. WOMC held steady moving to #2 as WNIC saw a significant drop to #5. A BIG gain for WWJ at#3. WKQI is at #4. 105.1 went up more than a FULL POINT! No idea what's driving that, but they are in at #7 behind WMXD. WRIF saw a gain and is at #8, Young Country at #9 and WLLZ at #10. WLLZ has to be one of the most successful format changes of the year.

The Tigers pathetic performance this year just killed The Ticket which is outside of the Top 10. Not much hope for recovery there with the Wings and Pistons not looking strong. WJR saw a gain but still was outpaced by WRCJ, the classical music station. Maybe the Lions starting will help.

Pretty impressive that both WCSX and WOMC were Top 5 in the demo considering their playlist. I'm sure it's weighted to people in their later 40s/early 50s, but still not bad. Same for WNIC which has been playing far more 80s lately and that I thought would take a hit when they dropped Mario Lopez.

Thanks, BigA, for posting the link. Much appreciated!

Certainly a number of surprises this period. 105.1 The Bounce does great in 6+ yet has a softer than usual showing in A18-34 in particular. WNIC and WOMC both showing uncanny strength in middle aged & young adult demos, besting stations such as WYCD, WDVD, and in some instances - even 105.1.

The one consistent that's been witnessed now for a year or more is the consistently strong performance in all key age categories of all three of Beasley's incumbent stations - 94.7, 101.1 and 105.1.

WJLB sneaking into the top five in A25-54 was a definite surprise.

Urban One (who's in process of exiting the DET market) and Cumulus are definitely the two underperformers of the bunch. Beasley, Entercom and iHeart own this town when it comes to radio, and all have strong clusters. Will be interesting to see if either Beasley or Entercom manage to pick up a fifth FM. I certainly believe it's only a matter of time until Cumulus unloads its three stations in Motown.
