Been out of town but just saw the August numbers and heard about T-Man and TBTL. In the end radio is a ratings business. The shows are both casualties of the PPM with neither able to get over a 2 share 25-54 since the PPM arrived. August was the worst for both. I wish the best to both broadcasters, each innovative in their own way. T-Man had a great run. TBTL was an experiment in talk radio that may have been just a bit before it's time. It was not my cup of tea, but I listened from time to time.
As for the ratings, they really are no longer an event when they come out. There is little change. KJR, KJAQ, KPLZ, KRWM, KZOK remain on top in the prime demos. Mornings belong to KPLZ, KRWM, KJR and KJAQ. KTTH remains the top ranked spoken word station, but barely in the top ten 25-54. KBKS owns 18-34. 40% of the PPM sample has changed out and still the numbers remain stable. It is what arbitron advertised. Advertisers find it much easier to place buys with some assurance that ratings will be stable.
I notice many markets are adding mainstream CHR stations since the PPM like LA, NY, SF and more. The AMPS and NOWS seem to be the new PPM flavor. The success has been mixed. In LA both KISS and AMP are doing well. NOW is growing, but has yet to catch on. Z-100 remains solid. It will probably be a matter of time before AMP or NOW arrives in Seattle. Maybe that is the future of the new KMCQ frequency.
