Austin 106.5 translator fed by HD2

I finally heard a legal ID on the Christian-style Spanish pop I was hearing on 106.5. It said ''KXXS-HD2 Elgin-Austin." I had read that BMP had hoped to LMA out 1490 to a Christian group, but it didn't happen. Maybe they had just enough money for the FM translator. The liners all mention 106.5 and make no mention of HD radio. They know where the listeners are.

That's interesting, but of course they really should be ID'ing the translator by call letters, too. They were K292FQ when they were on 106.3, but there's no listing yet for the new calls (K293??); the last thing I saw was their application for a license to cover the CP.

By the way, the former COL (Comanche Trail), is replaced by "Comanche Trail/Austin/Montopolis." I have no no idea where that came from, but the result of the frequency change and relocation of the antenna is that they "waivered" their way into Austin with some pretty good coverage. Here's the before and after:

Not bad for 50 watts.

Translators only have to ID 3 times a day...once between 7-9AM, once between 12:55-1:05PM, and once between 4-6PM.

They can ID by Morse Code also, any Ham operators out there????

Stumbled across something coming in loud and clear en espanol on 106.5. Is this still being used by KXXS ... or is it someone else?

Keilah Radio is a religious operator which I believe leases the HD2 channel from Border Media and the 106.5 translator from another party. Like most Spanish language religious broadcasters in Texas, they appear to pay the bills by selling spots and blocks of air time to other religious groups and entrepreneurs.
