Austin MyNet Affiliation Change Theory

I'm beginning to wonder if the MyNetwork TV affiliation in Austin might change in the future.

My curiosity is based on nothing more than the following:
1. KBVO "My Austin TV" has re-branded as simply "KBVO"
2. Corridor Television, owner of KCWX (MyNet - Fredricksburg / San Antonio) is building two in-town translators - one for San Antonio and one for Austin.
3. MyNet primetime programming would need to be preempted on the Austin translator since KBVO has the affiliation

My theory is that Corridor and LIN will come to an agreement where KCWX and its Austin translator will fulfill the MyNet affiliation for Austin and KBVO (14/51) will become independent. A by-product of this arrangement could be that Austin will have ThisTV over the air as KCWX carries the network on a sub-channel.

Thoughts?

lin and corridor tv swaps's tv stations, lin could go into san antonio with kcwx and translator. and corridor come into austin with kbvo and translator.

Unfortunately, the 300 watt signal from the future KCWX translator is likely to be just as useless as the 75 watt signal on the KBVO translator. You need more power than that to be a serious contender.

I'd like to see more power too, but 300 watts on RF 8 is considerably easier to receive than 75 watts on RF 51. VHF antenna elements are much larger than UHF elements and can pick up much more of a weak signal, even in spite of lower average gain.

Unless...like LIN....they manage to get it on DirecTV, etc.

It is on Direct TV but not in HD.

FWIW the KCWX translators are Digital Replacement Translators. What that means... is that they are part of the KCWX license. (if you look them up in the FCC DB, you will find that the *translator* calls are *also* KCWX. If they were "regular" translators they would have received a call with digits like "K08CW".)

They cannot be used to relay any other station, nor may they be sold unless the main KCWX license is sold to the same purchaser.
