KLBJ-AM WILL NOT BE MOVING TO THE FM DIAL. RATINGS AND REVENUE IS HIGH. NO NEED TO CHANGE. UNLESS 102.3 GOES NEWS TALK.? ???

Emmis owns the fill-in translator on 99.7 (k259aj) that currently translates the signal of kdht 93.3. With the new fcc rules regarding AM's using FM translators for fill-ins, it's possible that klbj am might get a fm translator with no real cost incurred to Emmis.

Why would they though? 590 am is a blow torch considering the 5000 watt power. I can pick it up almost all the way to Houston and Dallas at times. Maybe to help their night signal but for an AM its not to bad (probably better than the 99.7 translator)

...back to the original question: landing a gig in Austin radio can be a total pain in the drain. It depends on which company and which manager with whom you are applying. I fought like hell to get into this market, for what seemed like forever. But I don't regret it at all. Definitely took longer than expected given the market size. But the quality of life here is amazing and it's true that people who move here generally never want to leave.
