Austin Ratings

Well looks like Kase kvet & Klbj are all the winners, Bob still is holding on strong, Hot 93 not doing very well now, hiphop making a fall?? KXBT still is taking a hit, wonder what will be next for KPEZ? KFMK droped also, I like their station I'd hate to see them change, they got a pretty good playlist going. KXXS is doing fairly well. as well as KHHL. Really no comment on KROX

KMFK/Jammin 105.9 sounds great but I'm not surprise that Austin can't support it. I feel the format would do better if it were in San Antonio.

In the April extraps, KINV beats KHHL nearly 3 to 1 in 25-54.

KINV beats KHHL in the April extraps and BMP scrambles to change KKLB's positioner from"Música Inolvidable" to "Viejitas Favoritas."The battle between KHFI, KXBT, & KDHT still rages. KHFI's rhythmic shift may have led to it'ssteepest drop in some time. Something has to got to give in this 3-way pileup. Is KHFI's demise KAMX's gain? Are KHFI's upper demos moving to KAMX.

I think Arbitron is a joke. KXBT and everyone else ratings are still lower than usual. You know not everyone listen to country. Also KXBT don't just compete against Hot 93 and KHFI, they also compete with KFMK too because of the Ol' Skool Hip Hop and R&B they play. I think thats the reason why KXBT is down. Besides KXBT and KFMK sounds better than everyone else. They should at least be in the top 10 for how good they sound.

What may sound good to you may not sound good to the other 1.2 million people in the Austin market. True, not everyone listens to country. By the same token, not everyone listens to hip-hop, or rock, or spanish, or news/talk, or adult contemporary, or whatever other format may be out there.

Well put. What exactly is going on in this market? It seems as if all the hip hop stations are down. Anyone have any ideas as to why? I think its cause the market is saturated with it.

I think its pretty clear that the Hip Hop market is not as big as everybody seems to think it is. The Beat and Hot are constantly knocking each other around and since Jay Shannon came back to town and started turning both KHFI and KFMK more towards Hip Hop they have had problems as well. If you ask me, KHFI should stick with the pop and rock Top 40 stuff (with some hip hop mixed in when its in the Top 40) and KFMK should stick to more R&B. Jay always has to dive towards rap...and he's a middle aged bald white guy! He drove KHFI down before and I think he'll do it again....

Yeah, even though KFMK sounds good, they should put an Urban AC station on there because Austin don't have an Urban AC station at all. If Austin ever has one, they should be like either 103.1 Kiss FM in Killeen or Majic 102.1 in Houston. They both are very good stations that target for the "grown folks" and they play Smooth R&B and Classic Ol' Skool.

I agree. We just don't need anymore hip hop.
