Austin Spanish-language Catholic radio now on 1560

On my better radios I can usually hear a weak Radio Católica Mundial on 1530. During the last few days I’ve been hearing it on 1560 instead, which usually plays Tejano music. Now I’m not hearing anything on 1530 during the day.

Did KZNX in Creedmor move from
1530 or did KTXZ in West Lake Hills change format?

Found the answer on the Diocese of Austin website. KZNX is the Catholic station that’s now on 1560. I guess KTXZ is retired.

KTXZ is still there. The programming that had been on KZNX 1530 has simply moved to KTXZ. Whoever changed the website listing probably just changed the frequency listing, while leaving the old call letters.

KZNX will probably reappear with new programming in the near future.

AM radio in Austin has fallen into complete irrelevance, with the exception of KLBJ 590.

Tejano hasn't been on 1560 in a while, it's been on 1600/96.3 FM. I think previously 1560 was Chinese or Japanese.

Mediafrog+ - Thanks for the info. I wonder how KTXZ gets away with no TOH ID (that I’ve heard) other than “Radio Católica Mundial.”

AnyHuman - KTXZ had been playing Tejano as recently as a few months ago. The Asian-language station on 1560 is KGOW in Bellaire (near Houston), which features Vietnamese programming.
