AUSTIN SPRING PHASE 2

Well....so much for 104.9 the Horn..... ???

104.9 should go simulcast 92.5 True Oldies Channel and test the ratings. Austin doesn't need a FM sports station, try it for a book or two, and flip to dance if it doesn't work. KHFI needs a competitor and 104.9 could fit the bill as a Dance Top 40.

Terrible ideas! You do realize numbers don't mean much when it comes to selling sports, don't you? Sports on 104.9 would almost certainly do better with no ratings than a middle-of-the-pack oldies or rhythmic-CHR in terms of sales. I'm aware of several all sports and sports heavy stations that bill extremely well without even subscribing to the book.

That's what happens when you just look at the raw numbers.

But The Horn still has terrible coverage problems. Everyone living north of 2222 will have to listen to the Cowboys on WOAI, since the (silent)Horn can't be heard here.

Since they moved their tower the signal is terrible. I'm in Marble Falls and you can't get a clear signal 90% of the time. Driving in on 71 I can't really pick it up until almost Paleface and forget about it driving south on 281. I was also on 29 heading towards Cedar Park and it kept coming in and out. I stopped trying to listen about a month ago, during the day I try to get 1530 but that's only the national feed. Too bad because I was really enjoying the clean sound when they first went to sports talk.

Burnet county is not in the Arbitron-designated Austin market.

There's no way a class A with a tower in metro Austin will reach Marble Falls. Remember 104.9 started off in Marble Falls and I remember it cutting in and out on Mopac with a good car radio.

And now the thing is out, where, Dripping Springs? And yes, it cuts in and out on MoPac with...you guessed it...a good car radio.
