Austin

Is this the first time a Spanish station holds the top spot in Austin?

Looks like it, I cant remember a spanish station ever being number 1 in Austin, wow. BMP aught to be happy with that! Kase Kvet jumped up to number 2 & 3 is KXBT still planning on fliping? They are on the climb right now. ???

This book is a big wake up call for those who don't believe Spanish radio won't work here. Of course, I don't listen to it, or to the number one station now, so I have a question....does their signal penetrate the entire Austin listening area??? ???

My heart is breaking for Jammin. It used to be such a good station. Does anyone local work there? :'(

Are KB and Pansies days numbered over at Mix?

I would be interested in knowing 25-54 numbers.

Spanish #1, 12+ overall

Spanish #1 12+ in the morning.

On a side note, The KHFI morning show was #1, 12+ in all English stations. How odd is that?

JB and Sandy were in the top 5, 25 - 54, but they are pretty much over as a major player in the market. This was a spanish stations wet dream. Its tough for others to compete with the new weighting process for Spanish speaking station. KASE and KVET didnt have a great book, either. I'll have access to further numbers Wednesday, if anyone has any questions...

KB and Pansies? Let's be respectful despite Mix having a bad book. Mix will rebound in the next few months if Entercom gives them time...remember Entercom operates one of the best Modern AC station in Portland in 105.1 the Buzz...formerly "Rosie 105." I do have to congrats to 96.7 KHFI(KissFM) for doing it right...maybe Clear Channel will take notice and do a local show on Mix 96.1 in San Antonio

Well...if KHFI is the bright spot for them in Austin this book, then KFMK is not. Why? No Personalities! DUH!

I have noticed a trend for alot of Country stations in this Fall Book...down down down across the board in almost every market it seems! When KASE or KVET or both rebound Spanish will no longer be at the top...it is that simple. The KHHL is the only major Spanish FM signal in the city so being #1 at some point made good sense.

i still listen to out of town stations still and internet radio and still waiting for radio to rebound to playing good music again. you have all the corporate giants controlling radio nowadays, they just keeping playing the shortest list's of music and some will change thier playlist every month. i still not satisified with radio anymore. i still hoping for a turn around. it seems border media know's what kind of music to play. while other's are still expermenting with thier formats and other's just don't know what they are doing.
conglatulations to the top ten and see if radio will be getting better. 1. spanish 2. kase 3. kvet 4.bob-fm, 5. khfi. 6. newstalk 7. kkmj 8. kxbt 9. kdht 10. kpez 11. klbj-fm 12. kgsr 13. kinv and kamx 14. krox and kvet-am 15. kxxs 16. kklb 17. kfmk and kfon, kjce, kelg, koke, kfit, kwnx, kznx . i was wondering what happen to kfmk, kvet, kase. mix and majic they used to be up there. i sometimes listen to bob for the classic's and change the channel when they play something new or recent. hopefully radio wil turn itself around again.

Clear Channel has a really good format on Jammin 105.9. Unfortunately, not enough people in Austin like it. And the station not having any air personalities is not the problem. Anyways, I would like to hear that format here in S.A.

Anyone think CC will flip 105.9 to Spanish?

i think the hd2 channel of 105.9 is already playing spanish oldies, and it would make sense to put spanish on the main channel.

Given that it's CC, do you think they'll try La Preciosa in yet another market? (I know, there's at least one other station in town with that format, but this is CC...)

There are two stations with that format. KINV & KKLB. The only forthcoming Spanish-language format for Austin that is rumored to debut is "La Qué Buena" on KXBT. Interestingly, KHHL's morning show, "El Chulo y la bola," extended their broadcast hours last monday. The calm before the storm. Another round of the Regional Mexican format wars may soon be upon us. Piolín vs El Chulo? El Pistolero vs El Chulo?

"IF" El Piolin comes into town, it won't be a battle, it will be a "WAR" and I personlly think El Piolin will win hands down

Why do they need to flip the format on KXBT? The beat sounds good and it don't need to flip at all. KXBT plays a mix of Ol' Skool and new Hip-Hop and R&B along with some reggaeton. Why flip when they are doing something right that is helping them in the ratings and give a little alternative to the rival station KDHT? Thats all I want to know. If they flip, they are stupid.

Entercom has sold KXBT to Univision. Univision will not be keeping the current format. Presentations of
the new format have already been leaked.

If it's been sold why hasn't it been submitted to the FCC for approval? Also, I think CC will flip 105.9 before anything happens to 104.3.

FCC filings are usually the last part of the deal to happen. I don't know if it's been sold or not, but, if it has, it wouldn't be unusual for the paperwork not to have been filed with the FCC, especially since it's still in the process of being sold by CBS to Entercom.

KXBT has allowed a new sales hire in months. If one leaves, noone replaces them. I believe they are down to 2 or 3 sales persons total. Also, KXBT bills nothing. Regardless of ratings, its about revenue. Looks like KDHT will again be successful in outlasting The Beat.

You know I keep hearing different things about KXBT while on the one hand people are saying that they are in the process of being sold to Univision but Ive heard from others who know people who work at the station that they will continue to be the Beat and they are planning on expanding certain specialty shows over the comming months. So whos right??? ???

i do recall one time that 103.5 which is now bob-fm, was to be sold to univision from clear channel and the deal got rejected from the doj (department of justiuce) and the fcc. i think it should not have secret deals going on anyway. it should have public notices, including in the paper. thats one reason i think radio is losing out on listeners now days to the internet and other electroic devices (i pods, emp 3 players). i don't really listen to radio myself that much, mostly out of town stations, bob-fm, internet.
