Austin's Beat 104.3 disappears Monday

What a bad move. They should have kept the Beat on the 104.3 dial and moved that spanish crap onto the 104.9 signal.

104.3 and 104.9 are operated by separate owners. The former owner of 104.3 sold it to an owner who did not want it; it was immidiately spun to UVN, who did not want to continue the existing format. Another broadcaster, the owner of 104.9, decided the "Beat" format would be better than the format they had... and picked it up when 104.3 abandoned it.

P.S. You may not like Spanish language progamming, and I may not like the things you like. But there is no reason to call what other people enjoy "crap" just because you don't like it. In fact, it is rude.

I am dripping with tears of regret

Well, you proved what I suspected.

Yea Im not sure how strong the signal is because I honestly havn't been up on the northside of Austin in awhile but that sux if the signal of 104.9 is not strong enough to cover the northside. Here on the southside it comes in great.

I am going to pretend that you and the rest of the whiners on this board are intelligent by showing you something that was recently filed with the FCC for KXXS.

The current 104.9 Dripping Springs signal can be seen here: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM1048711.html

Recently, with the new FCC rules for city of license change, BMP filed to move the CoL from Dripping Springs to Bee Cave. This change would move the tower significantly close to downtown and would vastly improve the signal in central and north Austin. It is highly directional, but a worthy upgrade nonetheless.

The new signal can be seen here: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM1167857.html

Everything that can be done as far as signal improvements has been done or will be done shortly. Stop being so simple.

Its not going to make that much of a difference. It'll still be a class A station. It will still have very little to no building penetration. Itll still be lucky to get much more than a 2 share.

Its all the same. Weak.
