Ummm...KLVR? Isn't that in California?

And more to the point....to see KLBJ AM back on top is simply depressing. A predictable morning show followed by hours of syndie programming. Jeff Ward is the only somewhat bright spot in that dreary world.

my mistake. the hutto station is kylr 92.1 and the thorndale station is klgo 99.3. i always forget the gonzales station call letters at 106.3. i always remember the old call letters 106.3 ktci

Sadly the proliferation of consultants and syndicated formats has caused many stations to lose their local identities in favor of copycat slogans and logos that can be reused in multiple markets.

I'm talking to you, Hot, Kiss, Mix, Bob, Jammin', K-Love and on the Spanish side, La Ley, Digital, La Luz and Puro Norteño.

KAZI, KUT, KLBJ-AM and -FM, KGSR and KVET are among the few, the proud that still maintain a strong local ID.

Two words: ELECTION YEAR

Hell, at this point does anyone (even stations) use call signs any more? :p

Not many, and most that do appeal to the over-50 demos that remember them well. Today, 80% of diary mentions include the dial position, and more have station name or talent than calls. Simply, calls are hard to remember... which is why most of the world does not use them on air.
