Austin's ''TQ'' dies

in the radio-info newsletter:
Thomas “T.Q.” Quarles dies at 55, after a radio career mostly centered in Austin that began back in 1971. He jocked at KRMH, went to Colorado Springs, cycled back to Austin and was production director at country KASE and KVET, left to start his own agency, came back to radio via KLBJ, and did both production and some airwork. “T.Q.” left the Clear Channel cluster last year to open Daywalker Audio Design, and died last Wednesday of cancer.

Personally-- I'll say he was a true professional while still being fun to have around.

Great guy - he will be missed.. Have fun in the great gun range in the sky! I'm going to download a huge movie trailer in his honor..

:'( I had forgotten how he would download movie trailers! I remember him having a conniption fit once when the T1 went down because of the "I Love You" virus and had to run a dsl line into the studio. Download times were slow and unacceptable for him!

He was a hoot! Godspeed TQ!

I was at his service yesterday and I think it was a fitting tribute. The house was packed and everybody there had been in some way touched by TQ. God speed, my friend.

By the way, not that it matters that much, but the short bio at the top is incorrect. He was at KLBJ first as both a DJ and then in Production, left there and was a roady of all things (found that out at the service), then he helped start MQ&C advertising agency and then returned to radio at as the production director at KASE/KVET. He left there in 2006 to start his own production company.
