Why don't you assemble a website like http://houstonradiohistory.blogspot.com/ or mine at www.knus99.com/tvlist.html and research all the details for the Austin market? UT has a decent collection of Broadcasting Yearbooks, and you can find all the exact dates, ownership and other info in those. There's sometimes an accuracy problem with those here and there, but perhaps the Statesman or other local rags have their archives online, and you can search for individual stations that way. Your main library will likely have newspaper clipping files grouped by subject, so that would save you a lot of time if the archives are not online.

KTBC/7 was a mix of CBS, NBC, and ABC from 1952 untill 1968. Same thing with KHFI/42 1965-68. A lot of the programming was time shifted, often running days or weeks after the original network airdates. Plenty of kinescopes of shows that were done live or on videotape. Filmed shows got shipped in on 16mm.

KHFI got exclusive NBC affiliation in 1968. KTBC continued as a primary CBS, secondary ABC until KVUE signed on in September, 1971.
