Why not just give them a call? I've had instances like that and many manufacturers are happy to send out paper copies that are readable. You may have to pay for them but at least you'll have good readable material at hand.
Thanks Tom! Bill, I'm guessing that Orban didn't get a good copy themselves when they bought Audigram since the scan is poor. I probably should ask anyway just to make sure .
My guess would be if they were to get incoming repairs that they themselves would want and therefore have good readable copies. You're right, it could be that was all that was available from when Orban acquired the company but with all the good things I had heard about Autogram in the past I would figure they would have that info on file somewhere.
Orban/Autogram tech support in AR is first rate. With great directions, I was able to get our little minimix 12a up and running perfectly again! Thank you Orban for being there for us on a very old product!
I contract for a 250 watt AM that is around the corner from where Autogram is located in Benton, AR and they use 2 of the MiniMix boards. We had a lightning hit nearby a couple of years ago and the ops mgr. was able to pull the board from production and install it in the air studio in a few minutes himself. The owner took the on air board in to see Johnny at Autogram and he had the thing fixed in a couple of hours at a very reasonable cost. All I had to do was come by a day or two later and put it and the production boards back where they belong. As long as they're used by adults the little suckers seem to work pretty well and are well supported.
Yeah TV. When my friend's money-maker station's 12 got hit, we went over to his other cluster's production and grabbed the 8. Within about 30 minutes from hitting the door at the money-maker we had the station back up and running. The next day they were able to do their swap-shop ($$$) and carry on with very little adverse issues. There certainly is something to say for like equipment where things can be borrowed from 'the production room' to put a fire out. I try to build facilites with that idea in mind. Many want to just scoot by with the cheapest way out on a production room, but there's something to be said for having a built-in spare for the main on-air room. If a guy gets a chance to have the same board (even a smaller version) in production, no only is it easier for talent to figure out, it's insurance on getting life back to normal. For small market radio, these old minimixes sure fit the bill. If I run across another one sometime that's real reasonably priced, I'd love to rebuild it (if necessary) and get their third studio set up with the same thing. That way that little 8 can be the backup for both on-air consoles.
I'm not a guy that really advocates the finest and latest most of the time. But, I do like redundancy, and ways to easily stay on the air when things go haywire. There's nothing worse IMHO than being off the air for any extended time.
