Autogram Minimix 8a

Does anyone know where i can get a schematic for this console? The manual is on Autogram's website, but is a very poor scan and the schematic is not legible.

Thanks

I'd be surprised if they couldn't send you a cleaner copy. Unless, of course, what's on the site is the best they've got. And I don't recall who bought the company from Ernie and Delores.

I sent an e-mail to support, but haven't gotten a response yet. The website still lists it as a current model so I hope they have a better copy. I will try to call them on Monday. It looks like they are part of CRL/Orban.

We have a 12 channel version of that unit sitting in storage. I don't remember why we took it out, because it was nice and compact, but it could have been related to the reliability of those little switches or the pots.

Knowing what position those little cheap switches are in can be fun with those little boards. They are pretty damn easy to hook up though and easy to work on, for the most part. I worked a trade with a couple friends of mine in which one guy ended up with one of those mixers for his "am studio". He couldn't be happier. It's a far cry better than the old rotory knob mixer he used to have in there.

This one came from E-bay and was supposed to be in working condition. It was cheap enough though, so i don't mind putting a little time in it. It will be used with a special events station that will likely be an annual recurring event, but will not have a permanent home so the size is perfect.

It passes audio though the cue speaker, but will not pass audio though either of the buses and one led on each of the Vu meters is stuck on (+2).
I haven't had a lot of time to look at it yet, but i think i will start by re-capping it while i continue to hunt down a schematic.

I've just repaired a 12a. the problem was the output NE5532A chips (5 of them in there) and a few of the 49.9 ohm 1/4 watt flameproof 1% resistors. Just an FYI for anyone needing to fix one of these beasts...

I had a similar problem. Check the power supply voltages, pin1: chassis ground; 2: -15; 3: +15; 4: +6; 5 and 6 are audio grounds. Make sure you have the power cable inserted properly. As I recall, it's possible to insert it upside down. The connector from my power supply has a "this side up" label stuck to the topside. Like OKCRadioGuy said, look for open resistors in the +/- 15 volt paths. Some are just there acting as fuses.
