Automation formats from the 70's

I was recently in a Burger King where I heard a mix of music from what reminded me of the Drake Chunault days of radio. 70's Pop with a rock edge I swear I was waiting for the voice to come on at any moment. Does anyone else remember that format. That was by far the best next to the Beautiful Music format in automated radio history. I think even Jack would approve!
______________
If I could I would program!

KIOC in Orange (106.1) had that exact format on when they signed on back in the 70s...and it ran for a while until they went live...the automation sounded much better ;) I remember they played BTO "You Aint Seen Nothing Yet" and the voice on the outro....ahh yes...the Drake format...memories!

One of the first automated syndicated formats was the Hit Parade format from DC. In the early 70's,a s FMs had to create some kind of programming after simulcasting was prohibited, we got a slew of syndicators with taped formats. Those I can remember...

Shulke (SRP)
Bonneville,
FM 100
Churchill
Kalamusic
RPM
IGM / BPI
Peters Productions
TM Productions
Drake Chennault
Musica en Flor (mine)

All were intended to be run automated, although some large markets did live assist.
