Automation/Satellite question

Our automation system had the capability of switching just one satellite source. As our programming expands we need to switch satellites. Short of replacing the hard drive system, can an outboard piece of gear (Broadcast Tools switcher...something else??) do all of the satellite switching so the automation sees it as one source? Thanks.

Most of the new satellite receivers out there today can switch themselves! Most everything except the old starguides has a software scheduler that does it for you. If you are using starguide contact BT for the best (easiest) solution..

Can you expand a little on what exactly your needs are?

Do you want to switch between multiple network feeds? If so, then you may be able to use a BT or similiar external switcher that the automation controls (or a basic switcher that you can switch manually).

Do you have only one audio card on maybe a Starguide and you want to change services? If so, BT sells an interface that can do that for you.

Which automation system are you running?

Try one of those neat little single-board computers. Can't remember the name of the company that sells them; but you can probably google them. You hae to know a little bit about "C" programming language. They actually use something called "Dynamic C". But, they have a lot of horsepower to do what you're asking for.
