Automation software than can pick up a webstream

I have an ethnic station that plays news from a stream over the internet. Also during night hours we play a stream from the web as well. Does anybody know of an automation software that can go from the stream I am grabbing to my commercials/jingles, back to the stream?

The other question I have is:

Sometimes we loose the stream, and it needs to be restarted. I would love for the automation software to cut to a jingle, restart the stream, and go back the stream.

Does this make sense?

Here's an idea of what you could do. You can use Zara Radio (it is free) to interface with your current automation or use it stand alone. It picks up the stream and building a playlist, it can stop and restart. I stream my radio program from Mexico to the US and control it at the studios through Winamp. I have built a playlist inside Winamp that starts the stream and will go to a liner if the stream stops and then re-load the stream. There is an output on the internet machine into a distribution amp which feeds a slot on the Google/SS32 main machine with the audio.

Use a Barix Exstreamer to pick up and decode the stream, then feed its audio into the automation. The Exstreamer will automatically re-establish the feed if it's disrupted in any way-and also can play back up audio from a USB drive plugged into the USB port on its front panel.

I have a slightly different situation:

I am using a web based playlist that allows me to add a custom voice intro for each song. There is no content stored locally. I need to broadcast and then stream or vice versa. If I lose the internet connection I go to a pre-recorded CD. Is the solution the same or different?

easyfm,

I checked stationplaylist, they require files to be stored locally. I don't understand? If you can locate file on a local disk, why can't you locate them in an Internet database?

Sorry, can't give you an answer to that because I don't operate that way and don't know anyone else who does either.

Who did you check with? Why don't you try StationPlaylist Support or the StationPlaylist Forum.

Someone from this board suggested I answer a question here. I work for StationPlaylist.com. Our software does support playing streams, and there are features that provide for a jingle or songs to be played if the stream disconnects for any reason, and then attempt to start the stream again. But this is usually only used for lengthy stream relays, not short news streams.

If you have downloaded the trial edition of Creator and Studio, see the help documentation for "Create Stream File" on the Tools menu. This creates a .pls file on the hard drive which you then schedule as if it was a local audio file.

Contact us if you need any help.

Cheers.

Ross,

I think you are answering a different question than the one originally asked. I know your software support streaming and the insertion feature for a lost stream is awesome.

The question is, does your software allow for automation of a "third party" webstream or in my case automation of an online playlist? Specifically, can you pull files from a webserver the same way you can from a local drive?

No it cannot load an online playlist. It can play an individual file stored on a web server out the speakers of your PC, as this is similar to playing a stream. But it is not designed to play dozens or hundreds of web files to replace local song files. You would be best to copy the song files to your local PC and play them from there.

Ross.

I run a talk show from a remote stream that uses tones for breaks and using an external ToneDet program it can tell SAM4 to jump to the next event (commercial break).
