In a word: MegaSeg. 
Admittedly, I've never really worked on automation on Macs, though...so what I know, I know only second-hand. However, I've heard a lot of good things from several different people about MegaSeg, so at the very least it's a good starting point.
Can you elaborate a little on what format/style your station is? And what's the goal you're trying to achieve with automation? Depending on your answers, MegaSeg might be overkill or nowhere near enough. If you're so inclined, I did a preso with Joel Willer (KXUL) at CBI in 2008 about radio automation. Here's the slides from it.
