Automation Systems At Each Station...

Here's something kinda different.. I was talking to a friend of mine about the various automation systems being used today. Charlotte is a fairly good size market to look at... So what is each station using? Be it Scott Systems, Audio Vault, or whatever.

TK

I have no clue about most of the Charlotte stations, except for some of the outlying AMs, other than that WSOC just installed Audio Vault a few months ago. However, I'm sure it's safe to assume that all the Clear Channel stations run Prophet. I hope they have better luck with it than some of my clients have had.

I do, however, know what most of the Asheville stations run, not that there are too many. The CC cluster runs Prophet, I do believe, and Saga runs Scott.

I believe WBT and The Link use AudioVault, but don't quote me on it.
______________

I heard the same thing earlier today...and I also heard that Kiss 95.1 uses AudioVault as well. Maybe it's safe to assume that all the Infinity stations use the same thing, but who knows.

So I'll throw something else out there...which automation system do you guys prefer yourselves? I'm a Scott kinda guy myself, except in small markets, where Simian is the only way to go.

I've only used Vault myself, and seen Scott demonstrated in action, and between the two I prefer Vault. I'm not sure anything can beat it for live assist.
______________

Broker,
Did you know that Simian is extremely limited in it's switching
abilities when it comes to talk radio?
And NO I am not going to promote any other system when the one
I'm using is currently fubar'd. Wait, let me rephrase that statement...
My automated system is currently considered a total piece of shhhhh,
ooops PG rated, sorry. Once my system is set up the way it was supposed
to be and not the way my dumba** FORMER engineer installed it...
it will be PERFECT and run like shiznit thru a goose.
Just for the record, unlike many employees at any station, if your
engineer has his (or her) fingers up their behinds, the station is
screwed. I have to hand it to Media Tech out of Charlotte for handling
some major wiring problems at my place. Now if I can just get them to
bathe and use deodorant.
That's my rant and infomercial, I'm tired and need my Lithium.

I believe Scott Systems beats Audio Vault hands down for being user friendly...especially on their production units!

WBT and The Link do use AudioVault.

I used AudioVault at WBT and Scott Systems at WABZ/WSPC/WZKY. The AudioVault was awesome on air and Scott is great for production.
______________

What if your running a station on a small budget..would you spend the bucks for Scott's or go with BSI, or similar budget based systems..or do you look at as you get what you pay for.

WFAE and K-104.7 use Audio Vault. WRCM 91.9 was using Scott Systems the last time I was there.

Not necessarily... I know that WQAL / Cleveland uses Scott Studios, for example.

I'm not sure if you were referring to "all the Infinity stations" in Charlotte, or company-wide, though... so if I totally missed the call of your question, my apologies.
______________

I was referring to Infinity Charlotte. However, I think there's a lot to be said for the good sense of a company using the same system in all their stations. That way, the engineers only have to be experts with a single system. And of course, if you are going to put in a dozen or so at a time, you have much better bargaining power when you buy them all from the same company.

I've never played with AudioVault...but now you folks have me curious...I'm gonna have to figure out who I know who has one so I can take it for a 'test drive'.

I think most infinity stations use Media Touch. I know the Washjington DC stations do and I think the NYC station do as well.
______________
