Autotech Daily: "HD Radio Set to Take Off"

Yea, say it LOUD "it offers drivers high-fidelity digital AM and FM multicasting, as well as text-based traffic and weather information, all without the recurring monthly charges associated with satellite radio services." And from what I've been told the audio quality is better too. ;D

Yep. And soon they'll be in cars!

Yea right, let's see, so far BMWs ? Good luck competing with Satellite Radio, which is smart enough to pay $100 for each radio installed.

Fortunately, the radio owners are smart enough after the first year to not pay $150/year for the service.

You get, what you pay for - you paid $600 for two lousy Receptor HD radios, that require the 7-foot dipole antennas - you just paid iBiquity the fees up-front ! Satellite Radio is smart enough to pay automobile manufacturers $100 for each installed Satellite radio. The Sirius Stiletto has Internet Radio and is portable, and is availablie in Wi-Fi hotspots, and will be available everywhere in 2008, when Wi-Max kicks in !

Let me put your reply through the "truth filter":

You get, what you pay for - you paid $600 for two nice Receptor HD radios, that don't use the 7-foot dipole antennas (I got them before they shipped with the optional dipole)- you just paid iBiquity the fees up-front, which is what you do when you buy a CD player, an MP3 player or anything else that uses licensed technology ! Satellite Radio is smart enough to pay automobile manufacturers $100 for each installed Satellite radio. The Sirius Stiletto has Internet Radio and is portable, and is availablie in Wi-Fi hotspots, and will be available everywhere in 2008, when Wi-Max kicks in, in what the carriers deem to be "profitable" areas. Don't forget to pay your monthly fees, or you'll have no radio at all !

No offense, but the Receptor HD is one ugly radio - the Satellite Radio boom-boxes are a lot more attractive. And, the Receptor HD needs that darn 7-foot dipole antenna - boy, that will surely attract consumers ! Wait, until RS tries to pull-a-fast-one, when they go to demo this piece of garbage and have to mount the antenna outside ! What a farse HD Radio ! Again, you get what you pay for - you paid outrageous fees for your HD radio, and you get to enjoy garbage terrestrial radio ! Oh, boy !

It's not appropriate to make fun of those who are mentally challenged but I can't believe on top of everything else you are actually this stupid.

Well at least stupid enough to think that people really believe that you MUST have a seven-foot dipole. He looked at an HD radio for 30 seconds and decided that you must have the antenna. I've owned the radio for 6 months, and have used the little wire antenna. Mine didn't come with the dipole, and I haven't needed it.

Of course, he believes that if he repeats it enough it will make it true.

And then there's the whole mental problem of not being able to separate the radio from the technology. It's like predicting the downfall of the MP3 format based on the poor sales/performance of one MP3 player. Forget the fact that the Kenwood, JVC, and Polk radios are getting great reviews. Of course, he'd have to admit that he's wrong if he brought any of that up however.

Oh well. It's pretty obvious that nobody, even the anti-IBOC guys, take him seriously. It's fun to poke him and watch him get all worked up though!

It is well-documented, that the Receptor HD requires the 7-foot dipole antenna - that is why, it is now being shipped with the antenna. With the HD Radio Cartel advertising heavily on Amazon.com/hdradio, and pointing to the Receptor HD, being ranked in the thousands, any idiot can see that there is virtually no public interest in HD Radio ! :D

No, it's not well documented that it requires a dipole antenna. It is well documented that if you are having reception problems, the dipole antenna may help. If it's required why do I and many others not need it?

Nothing like stretching the truth.

Yea, in Best Buy, with the supplied long-wire antenna, I could only get two FM stations ! Yes it does, yes it does ! :D

How did AM do?

Yeah, that's what I thought. A hard time getting a signal inside a big box retail store. Who'd have ever thought? Of course, you spent some time trying, and not just looking at it for 30 seconds a walking away, right? I mean, you have an open mind! :D

Of course, you've just admitted that they don't require the 7-foot dipole! ;D

Don't know - just tried F.M, and that was enough. The analog boom-boxes, which were able to get MANY stations, sounded better ! IBOC A.M. is supposed to have even worse structure penetration problems !

You do realize that most listening won't take place in the middle of a Best Buy, using a small antenna surrounded by lost of noise generating products, right? And though you could hear the analog, I'm betting that they weren't getting a lot of signal. And finally, the BA worked...it stayed on analog.

Hey - why do you care anyway. It's all garbage terrestrial radio, so what's your point again? You certainly don't need to defend streaming radio from IBOC, so what are you afraid of? :D

Do YOU realize that the analog boom-boxes had NO problems picking up MANY stations ? NO, the BA only picked up two FM stations and the rest of the band was all hiss ! The analog boom-boxes sounded MUCH better than the BA and picked up many stations - now what does that say about IBOC ! With the BIG HD Radio rollout, it is going to be very amusing to see, if RS can pull off this farse !
