AVAIR and the ARCOS RDS encoder

I'm being thrown into a situation that I can't find much 'online' about.. and surely/sorely need some advice.

As the title says, I'm going to see if I can introduce the AVAIR and the ARCOS encoder to each other. So far, their resident techie hasn't had any luck getting them to communicate and I'm short in finding something through Google.

A link? Some great advice? Ok, a hint will help.

Their RDDI is talking to their Sonixtream:

Thanks Chris for your reply,

I haven't gone there yet; but I plan on attacking it tomorrow. Today's struggle was the Omnia One's software. Initially I couldn't find it due to their default IP (192.168.200.162). I finally did find it with the front panel knob.

Up tomorrow is the A/XE streaming software and I'm not sure how it will change the existing streaming sequences|?|

RDDI is already getting the information from AvAir. You just need to have it send it to the Arcos as well. I'm sure that will done via IP and a port. If it is through a router, make sure to forward the port you pick.

I use TRE as opposed to RDDI, but RDDI is MUCH more robust than TRE, so I am sure you will find the information by diving in. Also, if they have AvAir, they pay for support, so call 217-224-9600 and let them assist you if you need it.

Thanks again Chris. I'm gunna wear my short pants and rubber boots as I wade through this.

Their IT guy has tried to use the IP route but I haven't followed the paths yet.

One more tip I will give you. I don't use Arcos (I use Aud-Aztec). However, before any of this would work, I had to change the encoder to boot up with and open, defined UDP port. This was done via FTP into the RDS Encoder, pulling out a file, modifying it, and putting it back in.

There is probably a similar step in your's (although it may be via a web interface). That is probably something the IT guy did not do.

Pick a middle of the road port... Lets say 4500 and define it, then configure RDDI to output RDS on port 4500. If they are on the same IP/Network/Router, you will be good. If they have a hardware or software firewall somewhere, open up 4500 to UDP & TCP connections.
