Avenue 950 moving to 1550?

Surprisingly, The Avenue is doing quite well in Fort Myers, FL.

To me, it sounds more "Chicago" than Fort Myers. Go figure.

What are you basing that comment on? I live here and I don't think it is "doing quite well"...

Yes, there is some local content, much of it related to the ball games being run. Also, the spots are going for a giveaway price. I'd be happy to see it do well (Heck, I built 1660...), but this format seems to be a good idea executed very poorly.

Not sure who the pocket protector jab was at. And who is Jeremy Andrews??

Hmmmm...... The Timeless Cool banners are back tonight. Guess a "cool down" period worked.

Where is the Timeless Cool studio?

Is it in Green Bay, at Sovereign City's HQ? Or somewhere else?

I see that they hired Bobby Caldwell ("What you won't do For Love") for AM drive.

I believe that a while ago someone wrote in radio-info that Timeless Cool originates at WOVM 91.1 in Appleton, WI.

Recently, I've noticed that whenever I go to any website for "Avenue 1550", I'm always directed back to the Avenue 950. Same happens when I go to the redirect link on the Avenue 950 website. Wonder what's up with that?

Hmm, thanks for checking. Maybe I can keep on using it as the backup frequency for my Part 15!

I'll have a look at their paperwork and see what's going on.

Aah Hah...that's what they meant when they said they were moving to 1550...they were moving to the Lake Geneva 1550 not the pending Northbrook station. Now I get it.

Thanks for posting that info CyberDad ;D

I'm not sure what's up with this. I was driving home from the Milwaukee airport and was a few miles from Lake Geneva. Then at 7:05 pm they either signed off without announcing it....or more likely powered down to their nighttime 2 watts or whatever. In any event, they abruptly disappeared. I'd say I was about eight miles east of the stick at the time, just outside of Silver Lake, WI.

Perhaps they're now running the format on 1550 out of Lake Geneva as sort of a "placeholder" until if/when they get approval to move the stick to Northbrook.

It's too bad they don't either know, or won't consider "synchronized" operation, like the 770 in New Mexico (Sante Fe) and the 680 and 740 (Arecibo) in Puerto Rico. It would be nice if the coverage was decent from, say, the north side of Chicago up to Racine, WI. A dream would be to buy out 1530 in Elmhurst (or have them change frequency) and up the power to 5 or 10kW...maybe they can get an FM translator in Northbrook so that there's 24-hour operation...I know, I'm dreaming...(;

For 13 years I operated a daytimer and used to get together with lots of other daytimer owners.

Either;
A. They sign on/off w/o any announcement (id at the first opportunity).
B. Sign off sounding like they are PO'ed at the FCC (It ain't US, folks)..."Due to Federal regulations....", etc.
C. I also know a guy who plays the 2.5 minute"The Star Spangled Banner"at sign on and sign off, and another minute of who owns it, etc (not necessary). It sounds like 1959.

It seems to me a logical place for The Avenue would be on 820.

Right now, you have Progressive Talk spinning it's wheels on 4, count 'em, FOUR signals... Is all of that failed redundancy really necessary? :(

It would be great to have music on 820 again. AM radio is such a desert wasteland in Chicago nowadays.

Just me....but I'd like to see the music back on 560. Although I know it'll never happen...certainly not with Salem.

As for 820 & the three little rimshots....

I'm a political independent. So I like seeing a home maintained for both ends of the political spectrum.
