Avi Nelson (who did a special Sunday afternoon pre-electon show on 1/17) announced on the broadcast that he will begin a Saturday afternoon show beginning 1/23 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Will be good to hear live talk on Saturday afternoons again.

OK has the dollar a holler market dried up for snake oil salesmen, real estate experts, mortgage brokers, financial planners, etc, or is WRKO putting a farm team in place for when Rush goes to 1200?

They hosed Moe Lauzier, who did a pretty good job on the weekends AND did every fill in shift almost around the clock post 9/11. They could have paired Moe up with almost anyone and had a GOOD morning or afternoon drive show.

Cripes even Mark Parenteau did a good job on Saturday afternoons back in the days before he left NYC and headed to Washington for XM. (in hindsight I bet he wishes he never left Boston), unfortunately Mark will probably never be back on the air anywhere.

I know Bob Hedlund is a bit busy these days, between the election and being a new Dad, (congrats on your baby boy Bob!) but he would make an excellent weekend host/fill in.

How about an ultra liberal woman just to mix things up, Keri Rodrigues!

Wasn't WRKO running Rush repeats in that time slot? (It still says so on 'RKO's website.) So it's possible that this move is a step toward weaning WRKO from Oxycontin-Man.

It's great to hear Avi on a regular basis.Unfortunately ,all too often, I find Howie Carr pandering to the 'dumbing-down' radio listener with his Death Pools and Max Robbins TVGuide segments. At least Avi gets you to think.Talk Radio needs his intellect and provocative topics.
