Awkward Radio Moment (Funny)

Listening to Magic 106.7 on Wednesday midday, heard their "Music that won't embarrass you in front of your kids" slogan spoken into the song "Picture" by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow. That tune contains opening lines like "living my life in a slow hell, different girl every night at the hotel, haven't slept in 3 damn nights."

Luckily, they edited out the 'cocaine' reference (probably leading to why they haven't slept in 3 damn nights!).

A perfect song for parents and their kids, don't ya think?!

Aren't we taking this cleaning up of our airwaves a little too seriously?

I can't even mention "Little Willy" by The Sweet is about an erection!!

Why is it radio deletes out that reference to cocaine in that song, yet will play EC's ( or sometimes even J.J.Cale's) Cocaine?

Heck if it wasn't for cocaine radio as we know it wouldn't exist

isn't 10CC the amount average amount of ejaculate ?

she bop, turning japanese, both songs about masturbation

Radio.... sanitized for YOUR protection.

They left the whiskey reference in there, though...Plus, Sheryl always
enjoys a good (beer) buzz, especially early in the morning...:)

"Picture" may not be ideal for the midday placement, yet,
this a great ballad about what AC radio feeds on - love,
relationships and breakups. It belongs in their rotation,
cleaned up or not, but may be after 7 or 8 at night..

Yeah, especially with a corny positioning statement like that. Obviously, Magic knows what they're doing. But I find "won't embarass you in front of your kids" patronizing. I really can't stand when a radio station gets on its high horse and criticizes other genres of music. I'd have to imagine that any competent parent can find far better ways to assert their authority than through whatever music is on in the car.

If I had kids, I don't think I'd be seen as any less of a parental figure if they somehow heard a sexual song lyric on the radio (if they even got it in the first place).<P ID="signature">______________
