Ayla Brown makes it through to American Idol's Top 24

17 year old Boston contestant and future Boston College basketball star, Ayla Brown, daughter of WCVB reporter Gail Huff, has made it through to the Top 24.

Mom was not seen as Ayla came back with the good news...she might not have even been there because Ryan "you can never have too many tv shows" Seacrest was talking to dad, Scott. Scott, by the way, is a Massachusetts state senator.

Gail Huff was a report at WFSB around 1990. Too bad Boston College is no longer in the Big East.

Ayla is a great singer, and seems to have a cute spunky personality...I just hope she doesn't take on the snobbish traits of mom.

The longer Ayla Brown stays in the competition, "American Idol 5" and Ayla will get more and more airtime on WFXT-25's local newscasts, and other news will get less and less time.

If Ayla makes it to the final 12, I could see one-third of the 10 P.M. WFXT newscasts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays being devoted to "Idol" for as long as she remains in the competition.

Should Brown become one of the last two contestants, as I mentioned elsewhere on this board, WFXT's local newscasts on May 23rd and 24th (the last two days of "Idol 5") will probably be All-Ayla-All-The-Time.

I would not be surprised if Fox 25's 5 and 10 P.M. newscasts on those dates are all-"Idol" except for a thirty-second weather update. The morning show will be all-"Idol" except for about one minute every half-hour devoted to a very brief traffic and weather update. In fact, should Brown make it to the finale, I think there's a good chance the entire WFXT morning show, except for weather anchor Cindy Fitzgibbon and traffic reporter Doug Meehan, will originate from Los Angeles on May 23rd, 24th, and 25th.

Everything else will be Ayla, Ayla, Ayla. All other news will likely be ignored.

Fox 25 is going to milk this for all it's worth, even if it means downplaying or (should Brown be one of the final two singers left) completely ignoring other, more important news.

Which wouldn't be a huge loss with so many 'dumb and dumber' or tabloid
stories they feature during their 10pm newscast.

Considering that her dad is about to get on the Republicn gubernatorial
ticket with Kerry Healey, the Browns are sure to get lots of face
time on Fox25's newscasts. I am sure that Republican party mouthpiece
VB will be the first one to to interview the father-daughter dream team.:)

Well, it's a classic feel-good TV news story with a local twist. They're
certainly pushing it, but can you blame them?!

What the hell is wrong with you Joseph?

I have never laughed so hard in my life.

No news organization is that stupid.

American Idol represents everything that is wrong with our society. Young people who have never done anything yet think the world owes them something. Most of the people on the show suck and forgotten within a year.
