ANOTHER RECORD SWEEPS!
AZ-TV Gains 44% In Prime, Beats My45 and Challenges CW6
AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 7/Cable 13) posted its 17th straight record primetime (7:00-10:00 PM) ratings in the just-concluded Nielsen February 2008 sweeps…up 44% over February 2007, vaulting past My45 and closing into within 3/10ths of a ratings point of CW6*.
George Lopez was the driving force behind the huge increase…improving ratings for the 7:00 PM hour by 113%, and bringing new audience to According To Jim (up 61% in the 8:00 PM hour) and Frasier.
“Seven English-language stations in this market saw their primetime ratings go down in February”, said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV’s Director of Programming and Promotion. “The other gainer went up about 8%. We’re up 44%. That speaks volumes about momentum and changing viewer preferences.”
AZ-TV expects the ratings growth to continue as Montel, Judge Maria Lopez, Judge Karen, Cribs and Pimp My Ride join lineup in September.
*Ratings are Nielsen household ratings from January 31, 2008-February 27, 2008, , excluding Coyotes game nights on AZ-TV and Suns game nights on My45.
AZ-TV is Arizona’s only locally-owned television station, a division of Londen Media Group. Since its launch in April, 2002, AZ-TV has led the way in classic and contemporary comedy(George Lopez, According to Jim, Frasier, Reno 911!, Chappelle’s Show, My Wife & Kids, Frasier, Married…With Children, Cheers, The Brady Bunch, The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy and in 2009, Everybody Hates Chris), regional sports (the NHL Phoenix Coyotes) and local talk and public affairs programs, reaching more than 1.8 million households over the air, on cable and on DIRECTV and Dish Network satellite, as well as a global audience online at www.arizonasown.com. KAZT-DT 7.2 launches in 2008 with programming from RTN-The Retro Programming Network.
