AZ-TV UP 80% IN PRIME
Only One Other Gainer Among Indies & Baby Nets

AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 27/Cable 13) finished the February, 2007 Nielsen sweeps with impressive gains in its primetime (7-10PM) average and huge boosts in key timeslots.

In prime, AZ-TV is up 80% in household ratings over the February, 2006 sweeps….by far the largest increase of any independent or “baby net” (CW, My Network TV, ion). In fact, ion51 is the only other one of those stations to post an increase in prime (50%). CW6 is down 13% from last year, when it was WB6, KTVK is off 9% and My45 lost 58% in prime compared to February 2006 when it was UPN45.

Triple-digit increases (100% for Cheers at 7:30, 120% for Frasier at 9PM) helped drive AZ-TV’s performance, but all timeslots in prime were up by double-digits…the lowest being a still-impressive 40% increase over February 2006.

“An 83% gain for Frasier at 9:30…80% for According To Jim at 8:30…75% for Cheers at 7…this is record-shattering performance in this market.” said Ron Bergamo, AZ-TV General Manager. “Audiences are asking for comedy and we’re delivering. Advertisers are demanding 18-49 and 25-54 demographics, and we’ll deliver those, as well.”

“We’re being rewarded by the viewers.” said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV Director of Programming and Promotion. “Game shows, talent shows, reality shows, crime dramas and telenovelas seem to have taken over primetime television. But the audience still wants to laugh at funny stories involving people they can relate to…the gang at Cheers, Jim and Cheryl and their kids on According To Jim, and the Crane father and sons on Frasier.”

More comedy is on the way to AZ-TV this year, as the first situation comedy, I Love Lucy, rejoins afternoons in May, George Lopez debuts in early fringe in September, and Reno 911! and Chappelle’s Show premiere in late fringe this fall.

AZ-TV is Arizona’s only locally-owned television station, part of Londen Media Group, featuring a unique mix of locally-produced programs (The Pat McMahon Show, AM Arizona with Tonya Mock and Lew Rees, Autoshow with Michael Hagerty, Arizona Backroads with Marshall Trimble), NHL Phoenix Coyotes Hockey and classic comedies of yesterday and today (The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, My Wife & Kids, Married…With Children, Cheers, According To Jim and Frasier).
