RENO 911!, CHAPPELLE’S SHOW TO AZ-TV!

AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 27/Cable 13) is pleased to announce the addition of Reno 911! and Chappelle’s Show to its lineup beginning in September.

“Along with AZ-TV’s other new fall 2007 arrival, George Lopez, Reno 911! and Chappelle’s Show will further AZ-TV’s growing position as Arizona’s choice for comedy”, said AZ-TV COO/General Manager Ron Bergamo. “We’re being handsomely rewarded already with strong 18-49, 25-49 and 25-54 demos. These shows will just accelerate that demographic performance.”

“More and younger viewers have been finding and staying with AZ-TV as we’ve added Frasier, Cheers, According To Jim, My Wife & Kids and Married…With Children over the past year and a half”, said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV’s Director of Programming and Promotion. “These shows expand on that…they’re truly the next generation of television comedy.”

Reno 911! has been a huge hit on cable’s Comedy Central for five seasons. A feature film, Reno 911! Miami will open in theatres on February 23. Reno 911! will air weeknights.

TV Guide magazine calls Chappelle’s Show “a first-rate variety series”….featuring the one of a kind insights of Dave Chappelle. Chappelle’s Show will air Saturday nights.

AZ-TV is Arizona’s only locally-owned television station, a division of Londen Media Group. Since its launch in April, 2002, AZ-TV has led the way in classic and contemporary comedy, regional sports and local talk and public affairs programs, reaching more than 1.7 million households over the air, on cable and on DIRECTV and Dish Network satellite, as well as a global audience online at www.arizonasown.com

[EDIT-privacy concerns]

Wow. Until now AZ-TV seemed to be moving in a mainstream direction. This press release indicates that families aren't a target audience any more, rather, the Beavis & Butthead crowd is where the valued viewers are. Bummer.
